Shetland triangle lace shawl

I've been craving gray lately. And no, I'm not depressed. I love the look of the skies before a storm, the hair of a woman who has let nature have her way, the way certain steely colors glow against a white blouse. Knitting this triangular lace shawl soothed my craving.

Pattern: Shetland triangle lace shawl

Designer: Evelyn Clark (from Wrap Style)

Yarn: Cascade Heritage Silk (85% merino wool, 15% silk) in Charcoal

Needles: #6 29" circulars

  1. Oooh, that looks fab. I took a lace knitting class years ago and then made my daughter a beautiful sweater in mohair. Lace knitting is bad enough but when you have to undo parts, and the yarn is mohair - forget it!

  2. Thanks! Mohair is nearly impossible to rip out ... coupled with lace? My sympathies!

  5. Hey, are you going au natural, hair-wise? I have been for like forever...I'm pretty salt & pepper now...well, more pepper still, but you know what I mean.

  6. I love the shawl. And that is one gorgeous gray, Diana. I have not knitted with Cascade Heritage Silk yet, but after seeing your beautiful work, I really want to try it, especially in this colorway. By the way, I will send you some homemade soap if you want to ...^_^

  7. Wow, really? I've never noticed any salt in your hair. You look totally brunette to me.

  8. Thank you Leila! A high compliment coming from you. I enjoyed knitting with the Heritage Silk ... no knots, easy on the fingers compared to other silk/silk blends. I'm going to try some other colors after this experience. And thank you for your kind soap. I can't use many soaps because of a skin condition, but I do like to admire from afar. Your soapmaking adventures are fun to follow. :-)
